Today’s Pickup!

Carolyn, Kennedy and I walked to Haymaker Farm Market today to pick up our CSA box and to just slow down a bit in general. We took our wagon as we never know what we will buy and the CSA box is always very full. Kennedy really enjoyed the walk down and loves to socialize with all at the market!

We stopped at Birdsong Farms to pick up our box and Carolyn got the lowdown on what we now have to think about making this week. We are excited about getting some new potatoes (my personal favorite), shelling peas, scallions and lettuces. We are both thinking of what to do with these delights. We hit some other stops at the market and ran into a lot of friends. We had a great talk with Bekkah and Melanie and had Joe and Casey over for leftover lunch of split pea soup, Dakota or as Casey refers to it “Hippie” bread and Tom’s Rum cake.

Kennedy decided that the walk downtown was enough for his little legs and rode home in the wagon. As you can tell from the photo he is not opposed to riding in style. We apparently were quite a sight as cars were slowing down, smiling and occasionally laughing at the sight of “King Kennedy” being pulled in a wagon.

About Kim Galizio

I am involved in 2 blogs. For Lettuce Never Squash Our Love - I have a great desire to support our local farm community and joining a CSA was one way to do that. In the process we found it fascinating to explore what we can do with our CSA box and what others are doing as well. For Lean is Good - My first exposure to lean was in 1991 as TPM coordinator for 10 years at a rubber manufacturing facility. I love the blues both playing and listening being part of the Kent music scene for many years. I will plug the Kent Stage for Folk and Blues shows and go see 15-60-75 the numbers band whenever they are playing it will be worth it.

Kennedy is just too cute. It reminds me of Tom’s Aunt who use to take the dog Wolfe out for a “walk” every day in his stroller…mad I’m sure that dog hated to die because I’m quite sure heaven isn’t as good as that dog was spoiled 🙂

We were such slackers tonight but it felt so good – we didn’t eat any veggies – not even a salad. We had big, fat, jucy burgers outside on the grill 🙂

We didn’t eat a salad either, but we did eat plain peas! I think we needed one meal salad free! That is so funny that you did too!

I’m so glad you posted pictures of pick-up day. By the way, our impulse purchase of the day were the chocolate-peanut butter “buckeyes” from the cookie stand. Those were so yummy and are highly recommended as a $1 indulgence on market days!
